Pablo Picasso arrived in Paris just before he turned 20, and his beginnings were not easy.  He was alone and had economic difficulties, Pablo began to depict the world which he lived in.  He created a melancholic universe of blue tones. This was the beginning of his so called blue period.
He uses blue as a sad colour because his life at theses stages are rough.  The blue he is using is a dull blue which makes everything darker and you can see the sadness in his work.

Valley Curtain

This is "Valley Curtain" by Christo and Jeanne-Claude.  They produced a huge orange curtain made from woven nylon fabric in 1970 and hung it across a valley in Rifle, Colorado by 1972.  We have been learning about these artists in class time and talking about their great achievements.

This is another painting by Giorgio De Chirico, he uses a lot of buildings in his art to show shadows and make things dark.  The space here makes me feel like someone is watching or in the area

This is a painting by Girorgio De Chirico.  The space in this picture makes me feel suspicious or uneasy because of the darkness in the sky and the shadows of the buildings, the person with the walking stick around the corner of the building makes this painting even more suspicious.
